Napster to come bundled in Dell laptops

Napster has signed a deal with Dell to bundle 12 months of access to its streaming music subscription service on Inspiron and Studio laptops.

The package is worth $60 (£38) and includes 60 free downloads. The qualifying devices will be sold initially in the US through Best Buy, the parent company of Napster, but will be available through Dell’s website from next month.

Dell has done pre-loaded deals with labels, but this is the first time it has signed a broad consumer offering with a music service.

AU2 BlackBerry app goes live

U2’s Mobile Album app for the BlackBerry platform has been released.

As part of BlackBerry’s sponsorship of the band’s world tour, the app features photos, videos, interview, news, song lyrics and track samples from the band’s new album, No Line On The Horizon.

The U2 app is available to download for free from BlackBerry App World. BlackBerry users will also be able to buy the album or individual tracks direct to their device.
